Sub: Appointment or Designation of Energy Managers by the Designated Consumers as required under Energy Conservation Act, 2001[Section 2(s) & 14(l)]
As you are aware that the Government of India has enacted the Energy Conservation Act, 2001 that has come into force with effect from 1st March 2002 (copy of the Act is available on www.bee-india.com ). All the Designated Consumers, as covered in the Schedule to the Act (list as given below) have to appoint or designate Energy Manager under Section 2(s) & 14(l):-
List of Energy Intensive Industries and other establishments specified as Designated Consumers under Section 2(s)
1. Aluminium
2. Fertilizers
3. Iron and Steel
4. Cement
5. Pulp and paper Crackers and Petroleum Refineries.
6. Chlor Alkali 14. Thermal Power Stations, hydel power.
7. Sugar stations, electricity transmission.
8. Textile Companies and distribution companies.
9. Chemicals
10. Railways.
11. Port Trust.
12. Transport Section(industries & services).
13. Petrochemical, Gas Crackers, Naphtha Crackers and Petroleum Refineries.
14. Thermal Power Stations, hydel power stations, electricity transmission Companies and distribution companies.
15. Comercial buildings or establishments.
Therefore, the above designated consumer are requested to inform the BEE the name of the Energy Manager with his/her complete official address, telephone & fax nos. and Email Address as well as electrical connected load of the plant by FAX at the above address.
